Powerful thunderstorms responsible for at least six reports of tornadoes barreled across Texas early Thursday, resulting in widespread damage in multiple counties.
In addition to structural damage (homes, outbuildings and commercial buildings), the storms toppled trees/power lines and flooded roadways. Some areas also experienced instances of golf ball-sized hail and strong wind gusts exceeding 50 mph.
The threat of severe weather will linger for portions of the South as storms move into the region from the Great Plains and Midwest this weekend.
