Heavy rainfall beginning earlier this week has contributed to the failure of two dams located in Midland County, Mich. As a result, area homes and businesses have been inundated by floodwaters.
According to media outlets, the collapse of the Edenville Dam on the Tittabawassee River has covered the streets of Midland with several feet of water. Subsequently, water passing through the failed dam made its way downstream to the Sanford Dam, which eventually breached.
The following locations have been directly impacted:
- Edenville (Midland County, 48620, 48628)
- Midland (Midland County, 48640, 48641, 48642, 48667, 48670, 48674)
- Sanford (Midland County, 48657)
In response, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for Midland County on Tuesday. FEMA issued an Emergency Declaration for the same area on Thursday.
Severe weather also has been responsible for substantial flooding in other areas of the state. Approximate locations reportedly experiencing structural flooding include the following:

- Saginaw (Saginaw County, 48602)
