Five massive fire events that continue to burn in Northern California have consumed more than 900,000 acres and destroyed hundreds of homes across multiple counties.
According to the latest reports, improving weather conditions have allowed firefighters to establish fortified containment lines around the blazes, in turn prompting some evacuation orders to be lifted. It is important to note that approximately 60,000 residents still remain under mandatory evacuation orders across the state.
More than 650 fires have ignited around the state in August, collectively burning roughly 1.2 million acres. As a result, almost a quarter-million people have reportedly been driven from their homes.
